The Guyana Sentinel is an independent national news publication, owned and published by Kaya J. Kelly. No government, political party, or interest group holds any stake in it — its independence is the whole point of it.
Funding
The Sentinel is funded by advertising, sponsorship and reader contributions. No advertiser, sponsor or contributor buys influence over what the Sentinel reports; all advertising is clearly labelled as such.
Editorial standards
- We never invent news. Our briefs are drawn from public reporting across Guyana and written in our own voice — never copied, never quoted. Where a report is unverified, we say so.
- Real desk bylines only. Reporting is credited to its desk — The Newsroom Desk, Court Report, The Money Desk, Sports Desk. We do not attach invented names to journalism.
- Corrections honoured. When we get something wrong, we say so plainly and fix it visibly.
